Marine Parade East
Street guide, Lee-on-the-Solent
Marine Parade East runs along the eastern stretch of Lee-on-the-Solent's seafront and is the first thing most visitors encounter when arriving from the High Street. The Lee-on-the-Solent War Memorial stands prominently on this section, a granite cross overlooking the water that serves as a focal point for Remembrance services each November. From the promenade, uninterrupted views extend across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, with the Needles visible on clear days and shipping traffic passing constantly through one of the world's busiest waterways. The flat, well-maintained promenade is popular with walkers, joggers, and cyclists, and benches are positioned at regular intervals for those who prefer to sit and watch the water. A children's splash park and play area sit alongside this section, making it a reliable destination for families during warmer months. Several seafront cafes and restaurants offer outdoor seating facing the sea, and independent ice cream shops do brisk trade from spring through autumn. The eastern end connects to the coastal path towards Stokes Bay and Gosport, while heading west brings you past the former pier site towards the sailing club. Summer weekends draw large crowds, but midweek visits reward with quieter conditions and the same exceptional coastal views.
