Manor Way

Street guide, Lee-on-the-Solent

Manor Way is the principal road running through Lee-on-the-Solent, designated as the B3385. It serves as the town's main artery, carrying traffic from the junction with Gosport Road in the east through to the western residential areas towards Stubbington. The road takes its name from the historic Manor of Lee, which predated the planned resort development of the 1880s. For visitors arriving by car, Manor Way is likely the first road they encounter after turning off the main routes from Fareham or Gosport. The street is lined with a mix of residential properties and local services including a Co-op supermarket, takeaways, a pharmacy, and other convenience shops that serve the daily needs of residents. Lee-on-the-Solent Infant School sits on Manor Way, and the road passes close to the recreation ground, which hosts football pitches and the annual fireworks display. Several side streets branch off Manor Way towards the seafront to the south and the former HMS Daedalus site to the north. The road is well served by bus routes connecting Lee to Gosport, Fareham, and the wider region. While Manor Way lacks the charm of the seafront or the independent character of the High Street, it provides essential orientation for anyone getting to know the town's layout. Turning south from almost any point along it will lead towards the sea within a few minutes' walk.
