Parking for Visitors in Lee-on-the-Solent

Seafront, High Street and side street parking options for day visitors

Parking in Lee-on-the-Solent is straightforward for day visitors, though the seafront spaces fill quickly on warm summer weekends and bank holidays. Understanding the options before you arrive will save time and avoid the frustration of circling.

The main pay and display car park on Marine Parade is the most convenient for the seafront, the sailing club, and the splash park. It sits right on the coast, and a space here puts you within a few steps of the promenade, the beach, and the kiosks. Charges apply during the day and machines accept coins and contactless payment. On a sunny Saturday between June and September, this car park can be full by mid-morning. If you are planning a summer day trip, arriving before ten gives you the best chance of a spot with a sea view.

High Street parking is a mix of on-street bays, some with time limits, and unrestricted side streets. The bays directly on the High Street typically allow one or two hours of free parking, which is enough for a coffee, a browse through the shops, or a quick lunch. If you are planning to spend the day, the side streets behind the High Street are a better bet. Cambridge Road, Grove Road, and Russell Road all have unrestricted on-street parking within a few minutes' walk of both the shops and the seafront. These streets are residential, so parking considerately and avoiding driveways is expected.

Marine Parade East and West have some on-street spaces along the seafront road itself. These are popular and turn over regularly as walkers and dog owners come and go. You may find a space if you are willing to walk a few hundred metres along the promenade to reach the main beach area.

Disabled parking bays are available on Marine Parade close to the main facilities, and the promenade is level and accessible from multiple points. Blue badge holders can use these bays without charge.

There are no multi-storey car parks or park-and-ride schemes in Lee-on-the-Solent. The town is small enough that even the furthest side street is only a ten-minute walk from the seafront.

On event days, including Summer in Lee and the Lee Victory Festival, temporary parking arrangements sometimes apply. Marshals may direct traffic, and overflow parking is occasionally available at the Daedalus site. Event organisers usually publicise parking details in advance through social media and local notices.

One useful tip for visitors: if the seafront car park is full, head straight for the residential streets rather than waiting for a space to open up. The walk back to the sea takes five minutes and you will spend less time searching than sitting in a queue.
