Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve
Nature, Lee-on-the-Solent
A coastal nature reserve managed by Hampshire County Council, situated at the mouth of the River Meon east of Hill Head. The reserve covers freshwater marshes, reedbeds, meadows, and scrub habitats that attract a wide range of bird species throughout the year. Winter brings large numbers of wildfowl including teal, wigeon, and shoveler. Spring and autumn migration periods produce regular sightings of warblers, terns, and waders. Eight birdwatching hides are positioned around the reserve, and a visitor centre provides information, refreshments, and optics for hire. There is a small admission charge for non-members. The reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and one of the best birdwatching locations on the Hampshire coast.
