Lee Tower Gardens
Park, Lee-on-the-Solent
A small seafront garden on the site of the Lee Tower, the Art Deco entertainment complex that stood on Marine Parade from 1935 until its demolition in 1971. The tower housed a cinema, ballroom, and restaurant, and was considered one of the finest seaside buildings on the south coast. Its loss remains a sore point among older residents. The gardens that replaced it provide benches and planting overlooking the Solent, with a clear view across to the Isle of Wight. A memorial plaque records the history of the original building. The spot is a natural resting point along the promenade and a good place to sit with fish and chips from the High Street. Well maintained by Gosport Borough Council.
