Hill Head Harbour

Harbour, Lee-on-the-Solent

A small harbour at the mouth of the River Meon where it meets the Solent, roughly two miles east of Lee-on-the-Solent centre. The harbour shelters a handful of small fishing boats and dinghies, and the harbour wall is a popular spot for crabbing with children. At low tide, mud and sand flats are exposed along the river mouth, attracting wading birds and birdwatchers. The walk from Lee seafront along the coastal path to Hill Head harbour is one of the most popular local routes, flat and straightforward with sea views throughout. There is a small car park at the harbour end. Fishing from the harbour wall is permitted, with bass and flounder the main catches in season.
